Paul Murray has completed his second signing of the day after Sidney Schmeltz put pen to paper on a deal at Victoria Park.
The 25-year-old winger worked with Murray during a spell at Oldham Athletic and linked-up with the new Pools boss again earlier this week when he was invited to train with the Club.
The Dutchman also enjoyed a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town before returning to Holland, where he began his career with stints at Willem II, Almere City, Sparta Rotterdam and SC Veendam.
Blessed with explosive pace, Schmeltz has signed a short-term deal after doing enough to impress Murray in training and when he played against West Auckland in the Durham Challenge Cup on Tuesday evening.
He has been handed number 27 and has signed in time to go straight in to the squad for Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two game against Newport County at The Vic.
