Colin Cooper has completed a double swoop to land Sunderland duo Scott Harrison and Connor Oliver on loan until the end of the season.
The Pools boss had been keen to add to his squad before the loan window shut, particularly in light of some injury concerns following a bruising encounter with Mansfield Town on Tuesday.
Cooper has watched Sunderland’s Under 21s in action several times this season and has been working hard behind the scenes to tie up a deal to bring them to Victoria Park.
20-year-old Harrison is a Middlesbrough-born centre-back who joined Sunderland in 2012 after coming through the ranks at Darlington and he spent a month on loan with Bury earlier this season.
His form for the Black Cats development side last term earned him a call-up to the First Team for the final game of the campaign when he was an unused substitute against Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Oliver is a graduate of the Sunderland Academy and is in his second year as a professional at the Stadium of Light.
Comfortable playing anywhere in defence or in midfield, Oliver has been a key member of the Black Cats’ development side in recent years though injury frustrated him last term.
Harrison has been handed squad number 24 while Oliver will wear 26 and the pair will both go straight in to contention for Saturday’s game against Cheltenham Town.
