The Pools boss was disappointed at the manner of the 1-0 defeat to Oxford United on Friday night
“I’m very disappointed tonight, I have to be honest,” Cooper told Pools Player after the game.
“The way we spoke before the game we felt we were ready but I just didn’t think we reached the heights of Saturday, we didn’t get up to a brilliant tempo.
“The sending off is frustrating. When it’s not your night, one thing you have to do is to try and keep eleven on the pitch to try and get yourselves back into it.
“And then you see with some young players at times, things like that affect you and you get a rush of blood and do things you wouldn’t normally and we saw that tonight from one or two.”
The Friday night fixture means Pools will now spend Saturday afternoon waiting for the other League Two results to come through,
“We had nine opportunities before tonight and we now have eight opportunities so we’ll wait for results tomorrow and see what the gap is and where we are.,” Cooper said.
“I have said to the players every game presents you with an opportunity, tonight is a missed opportunity.”
