Former Pools star Darrell Clarke is set for his first return to Victoria Park in almost seven years when he takes his place in the Bristol Rovers dugout for Saturday’s game.
Clarke is currently Assistant Manager to John Ward at The Memorial Stadium, but spent six successful years in the north-east with Pools, scoring 22 goals in 136 appearances.
A bubbly and popular member of the squad, Clarke has now taken that enthusiasm in to coaching and oversaw two promotions in three years as manager of Salisbury City before making a move to Rovers in the summer.
And while this week will all be about plotting the downfall of his former club, Clarke admits that he still has a soft spot for Pools and cherished memories of his time at The Vic.
“This will be the first time I have been back in six years and I am really looking forward to it," he told The Blue Print.
“I had a good rapport with the Hartlepool fans, I had a great six years at the Club and I am looking forward to seeing some old faces.
“Hopefully the fans will remember the good times and I’m sure I will have a bit of banter with them on the sidelines. I’m looking forward to it.”
