Colin Cooper is set to give as many of his players as possible some game time on Wednesday night when they play their first pre-season friendly at Billingham Town (7pm kick-off).
The Pools boss is keen to step up his preparations for the new campaign by allowing the majority of his squad to play some part against the non-league outfit.
The two sides have agreed that the game at Bedford Terrace will be split in to three half hour segments, with Cooper hoping to give as much time as possible to each of his players.
“I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks which is all building towards the first league game,” Cooper told Pools Player.
“I’ve agreed with Billingham that we’ll split the game in to three thirds so I will probably play three different teams and give as many of our players as possible minutes under their belts.
“Billingham had their ups and downs last season so we’ll just have to see how it goes in the first period of the game and then maybe go younger but at this moment in time I can’t really gauge that.
“All I want is for as many of our players as possible to get minutes in the tank, even if it is only a few minutes to start with tonight because that can lead us forward to Bradford Park Avenue at the weekend.”
Fans can buy tickets for the game on the turnstiles prior to kick-off with prices fixed at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and free for Under 16s accompanied by an adult.
