Pools will continue their pre-season preparations when they make the annual trip to face Whitby Town on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).
Colin Cooper is expected to rotate his squad for the friendly encounter, with some of those players who didn’t get on the pitch against Sunderland in midweek drafted in to the starting eleven.
The Pools boss has been content with the work his side have got through during pre-season so far and is focused on ensuring that the players are in peak physical condition for the opening day of the campaign.
“I was pleased that a few of the lads got ninety minutes under their belts during the week,” Cooper told us.
“That will only benefit us in the long-term because the goal is try and give as many people as many minutes as we can, but also keep them healthy.
“It’s all about getting as many players as we can manage fit and healthy when we make the trip to Stevenage on 9th August – that’s the only focus for us really.
“We’ve got another few tests to come before then and hopefully and we’re looking forward to Whitby on Saturday which was a good game last year and I’m sure it will be again this weekend.
“Darren will put a side out who will compete and give us a game so whatever line-up we go with we’ll have to work extremely hard to get a positive result.”
Last pre-season goals from Antony Sweeney and Nialle Rodney secured a 2-0 win for Pools over The Seasiders at The Turnbull Ground.
Tickets for the game are on sale on the turnstiles and will cost £6 for adults, £3 for concessions and £2 for under 18s.
