Jack Compton and Jordan Richards will both be given time on the pitch tonight when a young Pools side travel to Consett in the Durham Challenge Cup (7.30pm kick-off).
Compton has missed the last couple of games with a calf strain but has stepped up his recovery and will be keen to build his match sharpness against the Northern League Division One outfit.
Meanwhile, Richards has made a rapid recovery from last month’s double hernia operation to return to full training this week and he looks set to play at least 45 minutes this evening.
“It’s a young side we’ve named but we’re still looking for a strong performance,” explained Assistant Manager Craig Hignett.
“It won’t be an easy game but we want the lads to get the ball down and play, and hopefully that will get us the result and safe passage in to the next round.”
Consett have a few familiar faces in their ranks in the shape of former Pools players Michael Mackay and Jordan Mellish, while Micky Barron is also registered to the non-leaguers and could yet feature tonight.
Kick-off at Consett’s brand new Belle Vue Stadium is at 7.30pm and we’ll have a full report here on the Official Website following the final whistle.
