Pools have completed their second signing of the morning with the arrival of Luke Williams on a month’s loan from Middlesbrough, subject to Football League approval.
The highly-rated Teesville-born 20-year-old is a versatile performer who is comfortable operating on the wing, as a central striker or just tucked in behind in the Number 10 role.
His First Team breakthrough came way back in December 2009 when he was brought on as a 72nd-minute replacement for Jonathan Franks – and at just 16 years and 200 days he became Boro’s youngest player for over 100 years.
Williams went on to star in his full debut for Boro in April 2010 when he was named Man of the Match in their 1-1 draw with Coventry City at The Riverside Stadium.
He fought back from a serious ankle injury to make fourteen appearances for the Club last season, scoring his first two goals in the process.
This term he’s found it more difficult to break through and has made only four appearances, the latest coming when he started the FA Cup tie against Hull City at the start of the year.
Williams has been handed squad number 18 and, subject to approval, will go straight in to contention for this weekend’s game against York City at The Vic.
