Colin Cooper has insisted that his side will provide a positive reaction when they return to action next weekend after a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Northampton Town on Saturday.
The Pools boss was left puzzled by a below-par performance from his side against the struggling Cobblers, with goals either side of half time condemning them to their first defeat in five games.
“We’ve just had half an hour in the dressing room and the lads have been very honest,” Cooper revealed when speaking to Pools Player after the game.
“They didn’t feel, for whatever reason, that it was their day – some felt leggy, some felt tired and even though we made two changes to try and freshen things up but it hasn’t quite worked so we’re all leaving here very disappointed.
“Generally we all agreed we were flat for whatever reason – we haven’t been disappointed like this too many times but overall I think we have to be today.
“I thought Northampton worked their socks off for what they got today but there were too many crosses came in to our box and too many opportunities for them to score goals.
“I will watch it back, we’ll analyse and we’ll have a chat about it – then we can’t do anything else but to try and go out and have a positive reaction next week.”
