We Need To Kick-On Now Insists Cooper

23 August 2014

Colin Cooper said his side earned their victory with desire and determination as they came away from AFC Wimbledon with all three points on Saturday afternoon.

Second half goals from Charlie Wyke and Marlon Harewood turned the game on its head after the hosts had taken the lead and Pools were able to hold on for their first win of the new season.

“I have asked for hearts and minds, and they gave that today,” Cooper told Pools Player.

“It was by no means perfect but I’ve seen people put their bodies on the line today and that’s the starting point for anything really.

“It was a war of attrition today really; we had some chances but conceded a very poor goal as far as I’m concerned so to be able to turn it round shows a bit, and I’m pleased for them.

“It’s great to see the strikers get goals; I thought Charlie Wyke’s debut was outstanding and with Marlon we keep asking for more and today he got his goal and was a colossus for us in the last ten minutes.

“The penalty save is great too; we all know how good Scotty is so to pull one out of the bag for us like that is brilliant.

“We’ve now got to really try and kick-on.”
