Dagenham & Redbridge finished last season in ninth position in League Two, eleven points away from the play-offs and ten points from a relegation spot.
Rhys Murphy was top scorer for The Daggers last season, scoring thirteen league goals. He has missed the first three matches of this season so far through injury.
Dagenham won fifteen League Two fixtures last season (seven away from home) and drew fifteen (eight away from home). Of their sixteen league losses last season, two of them came at the hands of Pools.
So far this season, Dagenham have conceded ten goals (six of these came in a 6-6 Capital Cup tie with Brentford). The Daggers have scored seven goals – with Jamie Cureton and Ashely Hemmings both having scored twice.
Dagenham have added thirteen new players to their squad for this season; Christian Doidge (Camarthen), Nathan Green (Tonbridge Angels), Frankie Raymond (Eastbourne Borough), Ashley Chambers (Cambridge United), Mark Cousins (Colchester United), Liam O'Brien (Brentford), Damian Batt (Eastleigh), Joss Labadie (Torquay United), Matt Partridge (Reading), Jamie Cureton (Cheltenham Town), Ashley Hemmings (Walsall), George Porter (Rochdale), Andre Boucaud (Notts County).
Pools did the double over Dagenham & Redbridge last season, winning 2-1 at The Vic in November (goals from James Poole and Andy Monkhouse) and then picking up the three points from the away fixture with a 2-0 victory (goals from Luke Williams and Andy Monkhouse).
After losing their first two league matches last season, Pools picked up their first point in their third outing with a 0-0 draw at York City.
Pools have conceded nine goals so far this season (six of these came in a 6-2 Capital One Cup defeat at Port Vale). Pools’ only two goals of the season so far came in the cup game – with Jonathan Franks and Neil Austin hitting the net.
Colin Cooper’s men have yet to score in the league this season.
Pools have yet to pick up a yellow card in 2014/15.
Neil Austin will make his 180th league appearance for Pools if involved in tonight’s match with Dagenham & Redbridge.
Jonathan Franks will make his 68th league start for Pools if named in the original eleven this evening. If he scores, it will be his tenth goal in the league for the Club, his twelfth in all competitions.
If he plays tonight, Matthew Bates will make the 175th appearance of his career so far.
If Luke James plays this evening, it will be his 99th career appearance for Pools. If he scores, it will be his 20th league goal for HUFC.
