John Hewitson's side are back in action on Saturday afternoon at Blackhall's Welfare Park.
Pools Youth Team will look to continue their encouraging start to the season when they host Wigan Athletic in the Youth Alliance Cup at Welfare Park on Saturday (1pm kick-off).
John Hewitson’s youngsters have won two of their three outings so far this season, including last weekend’s impressive 6-3 thrashing of Rotherham United.
Now they will begin their cup campaign in good heart but will be aware they face a difficult test against a Latics side who are coming to the game on the back of a 5-0 triumph over Wrexham.
“The lads are looking forward to the game and we’d love to have a good run in the competition,” explained Hewitson.
“We’ve looked excellent going forward so far this season so if we can produce that kind of quality again and just be a little tighter at the back then we’ll give ourselves a good chance.
“Confidence is high after last week’s win and we’ve seen some good work on the training ground too so hopefully we can take that out on to the pitch with us on Saturday.”
Pools are without the injured James Dawson and Dylan Elliott, but have Jonathan Barber and Connor Smith back from First Team duty.
