Pools Youth Team played Carlisle United on Saturday morning in an end-of-season friendly game.
Nick Green took the team over to Cumbria for the game which was designed to further integrate the Under 16s into the Youth Team with next season in mind.
And the game provided the young players with plenty of experience as they came back from two-goals down to take the win.
Carlisle United took the lead from a direct freekick early on in the game and then made it 2-0 shortly after.
But the young Pools side responded well and pulled a goal back when Connor Smith was fouled inside the area and Callam Wood scored from the spot.
Pools had a couple of great chances to equalise before the break but the next goal did not arrive until the second half, in what was an impressive 45 minutes from Green’s side.
Dylan Armstrong scored twice for Pools to give them a deserved lead from what was a pleasing performance.
“We changed things around at half time and kept some really good possession,” Green told hartlepoolunited.co.uk.
“We looked much better out of possession and dominated things in the second half. It was a good performance from the lads and one they’ll learn plenty from.”
