We preview Saturday's Youth Alliance fixture as Pools travel to Grimsby Town (11am kick-off).
John Hewitson has demanded his Youth Team are quicker out of the blocks when they travel to Grimsby Town in the Youth Alliance League this weekend.
Pools’ youngsters have lost three of their four games so far this season but Hewitson is adamant they are capable of doing much better if they are it from the first whistle.
“I think in some games we’ve tried to play before we’ve really earned the right,” he explained.
“It’s really important we get a foothold in games because at times this season sloppy starts have cost us and we’ve given ourselves mountains to climb.
“If we can make a more solid start to the game and also improve on our end product then I’m confident we can get a positive result and get in to a better run of form.”
Hewitson is without injured trio Josh Nearney (ankle), Dominic Scott and Tom Mitchinson (both knee) for the weekend’s game.
As a result, Jack Turnbull is handed his second start for the Youth Team, while fellow Under 16 players Jordan Jewson, Jack Blackford and Adam Male will also travel.
The game takes place at the Cheapside Training Ground in Grimsby and kicks-off at 11am on Saturday morning.
