We preview the Youth Team's game against Notts County at Welfare Park.
John Hewitson is looking for some consistency from his Youth Team as they prepare to take on Notts County at Welfare Park in Blackhall on Saturday morning (11.30am kick-off).
The Youth Development Manager is hoping that the change of venue can have a positive impact on his young charges as they look to build on their 3-0 success over Grimsby Town a fortnight ago.
“We need to find some consistency and try to make the level of performance we produced against Grimsby the norm,” he told us.
“Notts County haven’t had a great start to the season but we know that anyone can beat anyone in this league so we have to be at our best again at the weekend.
“We are looking for the boys to get out of the traps quickly and set the tone for the game – hopefully that can lay the foundation for another good victory.”
Hewitson is boosted by the return of Jonny Wright who makes his first competitive appearance in a year after recovering from a hip operation, while Josh Nearney is back on the bench following an ankle problem.
Tom Mitchinson is out after rupturing his cruciate ligament in the game against York and he will undergo surgery on Saturday; Jonathan Carr (ankle), Mark Foden (broken finger) and Connor Halpin (illness) are all also missing.
The injury list means that Hewitson calls upon James Dawson to start against The Magpies while his Under 16 team-mate Jack Turnbull also gets the nod in the centre of defence.
We’ll have a full report on the game here on the Official Website on Monday morning.
