Antony Sweeney will be part of Pools’ Reserve line-up tonight as they return to Central League action against Scunthorpe United at Billingham Town (7pm kick-off).
The skipper has been out of action since picking up a calf injury early in the game with Southend United almost six weeks ago but is now looking to build up his match sharpness.
“You know what you get from Sweens, he looks after himself well and is a good pro,” explained Assistant Manager Craig Hignett.
“But he’s not played a game for quite a while now so it’s important that we get some minutes in to him because it can be a struggle when you first come back in.
“He just needs to get some time on the pitch and get his match legs back so he may need a game or two to get right back up to speed.”
Sweeney will be joined in the starting line-up by James Poole and Nialle Rodney who will form a partnership in attack for tonight’s game for which Sam Collins will take charge.
“We’ve seen good things in the games we’ve played so far even though we’ve not won,” Hignett told us.
“It’s pleasing when you see the players taking the things you’ve been preaching about on the training ground in to game so hopefully that will continue tonight.
“Obviously it would be nice for us to get a more positive result too because if you do that it just reinforces to the players that what they’re doing is right.”
The game kicks-off at 7pm at Billingham Town and Season Ticket holders can gain free admission. Regular prices are £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
