Michael Duckworth has this afternoon agreed a new contract to extend his stay at Victoria Park.
The defender joined Pools from non-league outfit Bradford Park Avenue on a short-term deal at the end of August after impressing boss Colin Cooper during a pre-season trial.
Duckworth has not looked back since being put straight in to the side for his debut against Wycombe Wanderers, producing some eye-catching displays in the right-back role.
As well as looking solid in defence, the 21-year-old has also been an asset going forward and Cooper is thrilled to have secured his services on a longer contract.
“I’ve been very impressed with Michael,” the Pools boss explained.
“He did ever so well when he came in during pre-season and we were desperate to offer him something even though we didn’t have a lot of room for manoeuvre.
“We were able to do a short-term deal for him at the time but the way he’s come in and gone straight in to the team I think everyone at the Football Club was keen to tie him down on a full, professional contract for a longer period.
“Thankfully, we’ve been given great backing from the Club and the owners IOR to do the deal so we’re delighted and Michael is delighted.”
