Colin Cooper says his players are ready for their weekend challenge when they travel to Mansfield to take on one of the division’s form sides.
The Pools boss admitted that for the first time this season he felt his team let themselves down during the first half hour of last Saturday’s home defeat to Oxford United.
But he’s insisted that the mood has remained upbeat in training this week and says the players are looking forward to testing themselves against a Mansfield outfit who are unbeaten in eight games.
“After the disappointment of last week and the way the game ended I think everyone has been back at it on the training ground,” Cooper told Pools Player.
“We’re eager to get to Mansfield and see what they have to offer and it’s up to us to give them a right challenge.
“They will be feeling pretty confident about themselves because they’re on a good run so we’ll have to be all the things I’ve talked about before – solid, organised and disciplined but also try to find that cutting edge as well.
“I don’t think we have anything to be frightened of; on the whole our away performances have been solid and we will have to be that again on Saturday.
“One thing I will say, despite being on the unbeaten run, I think their keeper is making a heck of a lot of saves so we have to make sure we get plenty of crosses in and shots off to put them under pressure.”
