Stuart Miller brings us the latest news from our South East Supporters' Branch.
Although I believe a few South East Poolies Members travelled to Bristol a couple of weeks ago, it has been quiet recently in terms of trips or a get together.
This should change in the coming months though as I believe there is a handful travelling down to Exeter. At four and a half hours each way, that is one of my more local games this side of Christmas so I will be driving a rather excited group down there. I will advertise the pub to meet next week and it should be a chance for a good catch-up.
Another social event on the horizon is Dartford V Gateshead on 23rd November. The plan is for a couple(!) of pints before the game followed by a few more afterwards. Our secretary, Graham ‘book of contacts’ Allen is already working hard to identify a good curry house to finish the day. Get yourself along and bring some mates as it should be a great day, especially as The Heed always have a few ex-Poolies in their ranks.
At the moment it seems like the numbers attending should be quite healthy, meaning the possibility of our first sit-down meeting of the season! That may reduce the numbers somewhat! We will also be using the day to have our members draw for who wins the Hospitality Tickets that we receive for our sponsorship of Jack Baldwin!
Speaking of meetings, these are actually quite important and allow us to gauge what members want from the branch and give us an opportunity to make decisions as a group. Graham and myself have plenty of chats (with a sneaky couple of beers) living a few hundred yards from each other, but it is difficult for us to know what members think about certain issues. The meetings normally only last around 30 minutes but achieve quite a lot and make our job much easier.
Anyway, look out for the ‘Kent Beer Boys’ flag behind the goal at Exeter, with a handful of delirious blokes jumping around on the terrace. I know just the spot to stand so that we are captured celebrating all of our goals on the telly!
