We preview Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two encounter against Plymouth Argyle at Victoria Park (3pm kick-off).

Hartlepool United v Plymouth Argyle
Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 19th October 2013
Victoria Park

Pools return to home soil after three successive wins on the road to host John Sheridan’s Plymouth Argyle at The Vic.

The Opposition
After a nerve-wracking last day which saw Plymouth Argyle survive relegation from League Two by a single point, John Sheridan has overhauled his squad during the summer.

Results haven’t yet started arriving at the rate which Sheridan would have hoped for though, and they come to The Vic lying 19th in the table and a point behind Pools.

Argyle haven’t won in any of their last six outings in all competitions but took encouragement from their performance during the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth last weekend.

Finding the net will be the main focus of concern for The Green Army; only Accrington have scored fewer than the eight converted by Plymouth so far this term.

Last Meeting
Meetings between the two clubs haven’t been too frequent over recent seasons – mainly down to Argyle’s frequent switching of division.

The last encounter came in March 2011 when goals from Sam Collins and Antony Sweeney saw Pools collect three points from a 2-0 win at The Vic.

It completed Pools’ first-ever league double over The Pilgrims after Leon McSweeney’s late stunner had been enough to secure the victory at Home Park earlier in the season.
