Walker Called In To England Training

13 November 2013

Pools star Brad Walker has been called up for an England Under-18 training camp to be held at St George’s Park next week.

The 17-year-old midfielder has burst on to the scene at Pools under Colin Cooper and Craig Hignett since joining the First Team squad for their pre-season trip to Holland.

Walker made his senior debut when he was selected in the starting eleven for Pools’ opening game of the campaign at Rochdale.

“I think it’s a massive shot in the arm for what we’re trying to do as a Club,” said Colin Cooper.

“Brad is a player who Craig highlighted very early on that could produce for us at First Team level but for him to come in to senior football at just 17 and look comfortable is fantastic.

“He had a little setback with the injury but he’s come back well from that and to get recognition of this nature is nothing more than he deserves.

“He’s a young footballer who now has the opportunity to go and show that although he’s playing in League Two now, his potential is go much higher.

“I’ve no doubts he will pitch-up at St George’s and hold his own, there’ll be no problem there.

“He has the technical, tactical, physical and mental capabilities so I don’t think he’ll have any issues adapting to playing international football so we wish him well.”

Walker will spend Monday and Tuesday training with the Under-18s Development Training Camp at The FA’s National Football Centre in Burton before returning to Pools on Wednesday.
