We preview tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Quarter-Final against Rotherham United at Victoria Park (7pm kick-off).
Hartlepool United v Rotherham United
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Quarter-Final
Tuesday 12th November 2013, 7pm
After success in the FA Cup on Saturday, Colin Cooper’s men switch their attentions to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy when they welcome Rotherham United to The Vic.
After gaining promotion as League Two runners-up last term, Rotherham United made an encouraging start to life at the higher level.
They were unbeaten in the league until the end of September when promotion favourites Peterborough United won 1-0 at The New York Stadium.
Since then The Millers have struggled to consistently rediscover that early season form and have won just once in the last six games, currently lying tenth in the League One table.
However, they’ve had no such trouble in cup competition and a convincing 3-0 win over Bradford City in the FA Cup on Saturday will have boosted confidence ahead of their trip to the north east.
While Pools and Rotherham United haven’t shared a division since 2005/06, they did meet in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Victoria Park in October 2006.
On that occasion it was Pools who came out on top as goals from Lee Bullock, David Foley and Ritchie Humphreys secured an impressive 3-1 victory.
Ironically, Pools were awarded the Performance of the Round accolade just days before being told they were to be fined for fielding an “understrength” side against The Millers.
Head To Head
Christian Burgess is back in contention after he missed Saturday’s FA Cup tie through suspension, while Colin Cooper has no new injury worries to contend with.
Prices for this game have been reduced, with tickets available in advance from the Ticket Office and on the turnstiles prior to kick-off.
Adults will pay just £10, while Over 60s and Under 16s are just £5.
We’ll have full live and uninterrupted online commentary on tonight’s game from 6.50pm on Pools Player.

Pools are available at 15/8 to progress this evening, with The Millers rated slight favourites at 11/8 and the bookies are saying it’s 12/5 that the tie will go to penalties.
