Pools Boss Seeking Rapid Reaction

1 November 2013

Colin Cooper says his squad must embrace the challenge of returning to winning ways on Saturday when they host Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Park (3pm kick-off).

The Pools boss admitted after last weekend’s defeat at Scunthorpe United that he would be interested in the response from his players to the end of a five-game winning streak.

It certainly won’t be easy for Cooper’s men on Saturday against a Daggers outfit who have won five of their last seven in all competitions and not tasted defeat on the road since August.

But the Pools boss is confident his players can collect three points for the third consecutive time on home soil, as long as they maintain the high standards shown in the last month.

“If you’re prepared to rest on your laurels as a player, manager or coach then you’re not really heading in the right direction,” Cooper told Pools Player.

“The players were very disappointed after losing at Scunthorpe last weekend which is a good sign for me and now we have the chance to react to that in front of our own fans.

“There was nothing wrong with the performance, in fact I thought we were the better team, so can we react to that and turn it round very quickly now?

“We’re working hard and trying to learn all the time, but we have a team coming to The Vic who are in good form, so our challenge is to turn last week’s disappointment in to something positive for our home fans.

“I’ve said from very early on that nothing would please me more than sending our fans home happy every Saturday afternoon so we need to get them on our side early on Saturday, build some momentum and see where it takes us.”
