Striker Honoured By Welsh League

8 May 2013

Former Pools star Eifion Williams was at Victoria Park recently as he celebrated becoming the latest member of the Welsh Premier League Hall of Fame.

The Welsh front man became a big hero during a five-year playing spell at The Vic, during which he scored 56 goals, including the equaliser in the 2005 Play-Off Final at The Millennium Stadium.

Williams also won the heart of all Pools fans when he fired a sensational double in a 3-0 win at local rivals Darlington in 2007, including a spectacular volley in front of the massive travelling support.

He started his career in the Welsh League with Caernarfon where he smashed in 64 goals in 75 games before moving to Barry Town for a record fee in 1997.

The striker helped his new club win the title in each of his first two seasons when he was the league's top scorer, netting a record-busting 68 goals in just 60 games.

His prolific record had always been closely monitored by then Pools boss Chris Turner who brought him to Victoria Park in 2002.

Although the video with Eifion linked below is in Welsh, Pools fans may enjoy taking a look to see some of the goals he scored during his emergence in his homeland.
