Young Line-Up Set For Billingham Test

23 July 2013

Colin Cooper has challenged those involved in the pre-season friendly against Billingham Town to play their way in to his starting eleven for the new campaign.

The Pools boss will field a young side in tonight’s game at Bedford Terrace (7pm kick-off), mainly consisting of those who did not feature against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

But Cooper has insisted that his plans for the big kick-off are not finalised and he’s urged those in the team at Billingham to prove they should be in the line-up on the opening day at Rochdale.

“There is an opportunity there and I want them to take it,” Cooper explained.

“After Saturday I think only Scott Flinders is guaranteed that starting spot so the rest of the players have to use every chance they get to try and impress.

“Nothing is sorted out yet so I want the lads to go out tonight and show me they should be involved against Preston on Friday too.

“It will be a young side in comparison to Saturday but it will be a good test for us at Billingham so I’m looking forward to it and hopefully we can see a strong performance.”

Tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for concessions at tonight’s game.
