Ritchie Humphreys has today signed for League Two outfit Chesterfield following his departure from Pools at the end of last season.
The Victoria Park legend played 544 games for Pools in total and stands at the very top of the appearance-makers charts after over-taking Watty Moore in February 2011.
Over twelve years Humphreys became a huge crowd favourite at The Vic, always giving his all in whatever position he was asked to operate – whether in defence, midfield or attack.
The 35-year-old has been training with The Spireites in recent weeks and also played in their recent friendlies against Buxton and Huddersfield Town, doing enough to impress boss Paul Cook.
Humphreys will have to wait for his first return to Victoria Park though; the Derbyshire side don’t travel to the north east until April.
Everyone at Hartlepool United would like to thank Ritchie for his impeccable service to the Club and wish him all the best for the future.
