Craig Hignett was at The Vic this morning ahead of setting off for Holland with the First Team for their annual pre-season training camp.
And, after a positive first week of training, the Assistant Manager admits he is looking forward to more work in Holland,
“Training has gone very well. Myself and the Gaffer have been really impressed with the shape that the lads came back in, they have kept themselves fit over the summer.
“They have trained really well for the first four days and now we’re just excited to get cracking with some games, starting on Thursday with Almere City.
“It’s going to be a training camp, it’s not a holiday, so we’ll be there and we’ll be training virtually every day and then we have two games.
“We’ll probably have a mix-up in the game as it’s the first real chance we have got to see the lads in competitive action.
“We’ll be in each other’s pockets for six days and in that time we’ll get to know the character of the lads a lot better.
“Over the four days of training we have already got a fairly good idea of where we stand with that but living with each other 24/7 for six days can only help that.
“Overall though, we have been very encouraged with what we have seen so far and we’re all looking forward to getting over to Holland.”
