Colin Cooper admitted he is satisfied with the improvements he saw in his team during the win over Whitby Town but knows there is plenty more to come.
The Pools boss has quickly set about installing an attacking mentality in to his players which seems to be paying off as his team begin to look more dangerous in and around the opponents’ goal.
But despite declaring himself happy with the performance in the 2-0 victory at The Turnbull Ground on Wednesday night, Cooper immediately challenged his squad to keep on improving.
“There are little things I like, little things I’m not so keen on and things I know we can improve on,” he told Pools Player.
“I have said to both groups that played tonight that if they want to improve then that’s what we’re here for and I have to say that on the whole there were some nice bits and pieces this evening.
“I thought both goals were well constructed and we had quite a few more chances – in order to get those chances we have to have more quality and sometimes I felt we were a bit rushed in the final third.
“We have to try and be a bit cleverer – we’re trying different things to get that from the players and for the first goal in particular I was pleased with how we sustained the attack, got a good cross in to the box and finished well.
“The work-rate, attitude and application are great, the possession and the support play is getting there and we have shown that little bit more end product.
“I can’t grumble at what I’m seeing but I’m impatient for us to progress and bit by bit I think we are.”
