Midnight League set up to run twice weekly.
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is funding a two year programme working in partnership with the Football League Trust (FLT) to deliver a social inclusion programme to run a ‘Midnight League’.
Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation (HUCSF) will deliver free, two weekly sessions for participants, in a 40 week programme of activities including football and multi – sports.
Sessions will be for 8 – 12 year olds for one and half hours and 13 – 19 year olds for another one and half hours encouraging young people in deprived areas to be actively respecting their local area and amenities, raising aspirations and helping to reduce local behaviour hot spots by offering coaching in a safe working environment.
Participants will have the chance to gain qualifications such as Young Leaders Award, Sports Leaders UK, Asdan Football Course and helping with their educational needs and have a chance to volunteer to improve social harmony in the local community.
HUCSF Development Officer, Keith Nobbs said; “It’s a great opportunity for local pupils to attend free coaching sessions that will be fun and enjoyable. We will also link into local Police initiatives in the area. It also gives older pupils the chance to volunteer and gain qualifications by helping the younger age groups”.
