22 February 2013

We bring you the definitive guide to Saturday's League One game against Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park (3pm kick-off).

npower League One
Scunthorpe United v Hartlepool United
Saturday 23rd February 2013
Kick-off: 3pm

The Opposition
A run of three successive home wins lifted Scunthorpe United away from the relegation zone but a 3-0 defeat Yeovil last time out keeps them looking over their shoulders.

Brian Laws' men now sit three points above fourth-bottom Colchester United, while Pools will move within eight points of The Iron with a game in hand if they can celebrate victory at the weekend.

Of their remaining thirteen fixtures, The Iron have just four games against sides currently in the bottom half of League One but they'll be hoping their improved home form can provide the platform for survival.

Head To Head
Saturday will be the 95th competitive meeting between the two clubs and historically it's Scunthorpe who have the edge, having celebrated victory 46 times to Pools' 28.

Typically, trips to Glanford Park have been tough for Pools though goals from Andy Monkhouse and Antony Sweeney saw them win on their last visit there in November 2011.

However, that was against the norm with Pools having won just twice in their last 16 visits to Scunthorpe - even losing 4-0 on the day there on the day they secured automatic promotion in 2003.

Team News
John Hughes has named an unchanged starting line-up for the last five games during which he has seen Pools remain unbeaten.

He could opt to leave things as they are again for the trip to Glanford Park, though Steve Howard and Luke James are back in contention for a start after impressing from the bench.

Pools fans can buy their tickets on the turnstiles prior to kick-off at Glanford Park.
