The Pools boss was full of praise for his young Pools side after seeing them earn their just rewards with a 93rd minute winner at Morecambe.
With a starting eleven with the average age of just 22, Pools put in a mature display to pick up a well-deserved three points.
“Even the referee was very complimentary and said we’d created enough to win two or three games which is a fact,” Cooper told Pools Player after the game.
“But you turn around and say well Morecambe have defended their box when they’ve had to and the goalkeeper has made a save when he had to and what they’ve done is the classic counter punch.
“And while I can stand here and say we got nothing more than we deserved, in the context of the game, we then hit them with a counter counter punch.
“I looked at the teamsheet when I wrote it out this afternoon and the age is incredibly young, but with that youth comes that freshness, energy, enthusiasm and freedom. We played with a lot of discipline out of possession but in possession I thought we were outstanding.
“I can have nothing but praise for my players this afternoon, I thought they were outstanding.”
And the Pools boss had further praise for the travelling army of 424 Pools fans who made the trip to back his side this afternoon,
“We said it at Chesterfield on Thursday but again those people who choose to come over the Christmas period. I read some tweets from people who were saying they were setting off and I think the fans had that good feeling today. They were brilliant today.”
