Colin Cooper has called on his players to find the “missing ingredient” when they host Fleetwood Town at Victoria Park on Saturday.
The Pools boss has seen his side fail to score in their opening three league games but has insisted that progress is being made and is confident that this weekend can see fortunes turn in front of goal.
Cooper was content with the way his side defended in the draw with York last weekend but knows the time has come to pair that with a greater cutting edge.
“We need to have the same level of strength and compactness that we had at York but just try to add that little something at the other end,” he told Pools Player.
“The missing ingredient is the obvious one and we’ve been working very hard to give ourselves the opportunity to get some goals against Fleetwood on Saturday.
“I would love to send our fans home with something to celebrate and I think the signs are there that we’re getting there, I see them day in and day out.
“I’m encouraged by what I’m seeing but we really want to put a smile on our fans’ faces and hopefully that can happen this Saturday.”
