Hip Injury Forced Wyke Substitution

6 April 2013

Striker to be monitored in training after being taken off through injury against Bury.

John Hughes has revealed that a hip problem was the reason Charlie Wyke was taken off at half time during the 2-0 win over Bury at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The young striker has been playing with the injury in recent games but the discomfort became too much and he was replaced by Ritchie Humphreys at the interval.

Wyke could now be a doubt for next weekend's trip to face Tranmere Rovers but Hughes will assess him again at the training ground during the week.

"He has been feeling his hip recently and I thought it was just a knock but he was struggling," the Pools boss explained.

"It's one we'll have to keep an eye on but I did think Ritchie did well when he came on and with his experience the ball was like a magnet to him."
