Cooper Happy Despite Late Leveller

15 September 2012

Neale Cooper took a philosophical approach after seeing his side denied three points at Bournemouth when the hosts grabbed a 93rd minute equaliser.

Rather than dwell on the agony of the late goal, the Pools boss preferred to focus on the many positives to have come from a strong away performance from his team.

"That's football," he told Pools Player afterwards.

"I'm still happy because I thought the boys were outstanding today - we had a game plan and they all stuck to it.

"They're all upset in the changing rooms afterwards but I'm not because I know what football is all about; we couldn't hang on at the end and it's really frustrating but there were plenty of positives today.

"We defended with resilience and the lads did well blocking things all afternoon - it would have been great to have three points to take with us on the long journey home but we have one and we are happy with that.

"We needed everyone to play to their maximum today and they gave us everything they had energy-wise; I feel for them and I feel for the fans who made the trip but they saw a disciplined performance with plenty of fight.

"That's all I ask from them that they put in maximum effort and I can't fault a single one of them today."
