Pools Reserves began their Durham County Cup campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over Ahsbrooke Belford House at the Bobby Gurney Memorial Ground on Wednesday evening.
The first goal arrived in spectacular fashion when Jordan Richards' corner was cleared as far as Darren Holden who hammered the ball in to the top corner from twenty-five yards.
It was quickly 2-0 too as Greg Rutherford cut inside dangerously with the ball and found the corner of the net with a precise finish.
And Pools increased their advantage to three goals before half time when Richards did well to pick out Hedley, who took a touch and slotted home.
Lewis Hawkins and Daniel Jones both had good opportunities to score early in the second period but fired wide of the target as Pools continued to dominate.
The scoring was rounded off from the penalty spot when Rutherford was brought down and Luscombe did the honours from twelve yards.
