There Were Plenty Of Positives

13 October 2012

Neale Cooper refused to be down-hearted after seeing three points snatched away from his side by a late goal from Doncaster Rovers at Victoria Park.

Instead the Pools boss chose to focus on the many pluses from the performance and said he felt confident they could build on them in the coming games.

"There were a lot of positives, especially in the second half," Cooper told Pools Player.

"I thought they started really well and came at us early on; they were always likely to be a threat with their strikeforce but defensively we did really and covered for each other.

"Neil Austin put his penalty away really confidently because he was under pressure the way things have been recently so it was great to see him tuck it away.

"We had the chances to have scored more than we did; I think Steve Howard had a good header and then Jonathan Franks had a great chance but didn't take it early enough.

"Yet again the support was fantastic today too; they have every right to criticise but I think they saw that the lads were trying their hardest.

"We're playing some good stuff at times - now we just need to cut out the silly individual mistakes and enjoy a bit of better fortune."
