Pools have this morning signed striker Charlie Wyke on a month-long loan deal from Championship neighbours Middlesbrough.
The 19-year-old front man has been training with Pools in recent weeks and now a deal has been struck to bring him to The Vic on loan.
With a keen eye for goal, Middlesbrough-born Wyke scored 30 goals in all competitions during the 2010/11 campaign and was rewarded with a three-year professional contract at the Riverside.
Although he prefers to play as an out-and-out striker, Wyke is also comfortable slotting in to midfield if required.
"He came in and trained with us and from day one he looked really good," revealed Pools boss Neale Cooper.
"He's a good size, has good feet and has shown a great attitude to training so we're sure he will be a good addition for us.
"Charlie is renowned for his finishing and we've been impressed by that, but overall he's just fitted in really well so it will be good to take a look at him in competitive action.
"I'd like to thank Middlesbrough for their help on this and hopefully the player will benefit us but also gain from the experience."
The talented teenager has been handed squad number 36 and he will go straight in the squad for tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Bradford City.
