Youth Team Come From Behind To Win

19 November 2012

Pools youngsters continue good run with victory over Doncaster Rovers.

Pools Youth Team came from behind to take victory over league leaders Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.

The game did not get off to a good start for John Hewitson's side, who conceded with only 18 seconds having been played.

After such a quick opening to the game, Pools took a while to find their feet but gradually did find their confidence and began to ask questions of the visitors.

Brad Walker picked up the ball after a great passage of play to send a 30 yard strike into the top corner of the net to draw things level.

The goal gave Pools a real boost and they went on to test the Rovers keeper with efforts from Rhys Harbottle and Connor Halpin.

Halpin went on to put Pools ahead just after the break, picking up a fantastic through ball from Walker to send the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

With Hewitson's side now on top, there could well have been more goals in the second half - with Kerry Hedley, Halpin and Harbottle all trying their luck but the scoreline remained and Pools took a deserved victory.

"I was really happy to see the lads beat the top of the table team," Hewitson told

"We defended resolutely and deserved the win in the end."
