Pools boss wants livelier display in second friendly
Neale Cooper is hoping his players can produce a higher tempo performance when they take on Almere City in a pre season friendly in Heiloo tonight (6pm English time kick-off).
The Pools boss felt the squad looked tired in their opening game against Telstar on Sunday but after giving them a lighter training session this morning he is looking for a more lively display in their latest fixture.
“Looking back perhaps we worked a little too hard on the morning of our first game,” Cooper told Pools Player.
“We know we can play better than we did on Sunday even though the opposition were good so I’m looking for an improvement on that when we play against Almere this evening.
“We’ve had a really good couple of days since the game and we’ve done quite a lot of work on the shape of the team and we had an enjoyable practice match yesterday.
“I will put a team out tonight that will give our opposition a good game; I’m looking to let the majority play the full ninety minutes this evening.
“We’re all looking forward to it and we’d like to win the game – it would be nice to get a win under our belts before we go home.”
Cooper has also organised for a local goalkeeper to be on the bench tonight as cover for Dominic Scott while Scott Flinders recovers from a thigh injury.
