Pools boss happy with workout in opening friendly
Neale Cooper wasn’t too critical of his team despite seeing them beaten 2-0 by Telstar in the opening friendly of the pre season trip to Holland on Sunday night.
The Pools boss admitted that there were some heavy legs among his squad but insisted that was to be expected given the amount of work they have got through in recent weeks.
“We’re happy to get the ninety minutes under our belts but I thought Telstar looked sharper than us tonight,” he told Pools Player.
“We started quite well in the opening half hour but after that we looked quite tired at times and that’s understandable because the lads have been working extremely hard.
“That was another good training exercise for us; some of them definitely needed the game and the more games we play, the sharper everyone will become.
“At times I felt we tried to play like they did and that’s not really our way – there were one or two good things and I thought Telstar were a good team so I’m not going to rip in to the players.
“I’m not making excuses but these games are to get the fitness levels, that’s why we’re here in Holland so we’ll get back on to it tomorrow and look forward to Wednesday’s game.”
