Pardew Considers Ben Arfa Inclusion

6 August 2012

French star could be in Newcastle squad for Pools friendly

Alan Pardew could be ready to throw Hatem Ben Arfa in to action against Pools in the pre season friendly at Victoria Park on Tuesday evening (7.30pm kick-off).

The Frenchman missed the Magpies' recent tour to Portugal and has also not travelled with the squad for their short stay in Holland.

But boss Pardew is considering including the talented playmaker in his group for the game at Pools, though he will tread carefully with the 25-year-old who has been the victim of two serious injuries in the last two years.

And after drawing 0-0 with Dutch outfit Den Haag on Saturday afternoon, the Toon chief is happy to have another run out at The Vic.

"We are looking forward to it. It is another game and the guys who did not get the main bulk of it in Holland will do on Tuesday," Pardew commented.

"Possibly (Ben Arfa will be involved), but he is way behind and for a number of reasons.

"Shola (Ameobi) will play and Willo (Mike Williamson) too; then we can go in to Cardiff with everybody ready to go," he told the Evening Chronicle.
