McHugh Clearance Arrives Just In Time

21 August 2012

Keeper goes straight into squad at Notts County

Pools have completed the signing of Adam McHugh after the Scottish Football Association gave international clearance late this afternoon.

The keeper put pen to paper on Monday afternoon but the deal could not be completed until the authorities had ratified the move.

McHugh left St Mirren at the end of last term and has spent pre season on trial at Victoria Park, playing in four of the Club's pre season friendlies.

The twenty-year-old's arrival means he will now act as back-up to Scott Flinders, with Andy Rafferty on the sidelines following a summer knee operation.

"Obviously this is a great opportunity for me and I'm happy to be here," McHugh told us.

"I know a few of the fans think I'm Scottish but I'm actually from Spennymoor so it's nice to back home in the north east again and I'm really looking forward to getting going.

"Training has been going really well in pre season and I already feel like I am improving by working alongside Scott Flinders and Andy Collett."

McHugh is now set to be among the substitutes for Pools' game against Notts County at Meadow Lane this evening.
