Horwood Ready To Hit Pools Century

17 August 2012

Full-back aims to celebrate 100 games in style on Saturday

Evan Horwood is set to play his 100th game for the Club this weekend - and he has no doubt about how he'd like to celebrate the milestone.

The Hartlepool-born full-back was as hurt as anyone about the 5-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra and he's determined to help those memories fade by marking his century with a win over Swindon Town on Saturday.

"Last week was a massive disappointment but we're back at home now, in front of our own fans and hopefully they can get right behind us," Horwood told us.

"Just getting back and playing front of your own supporters is exciting and we're all feeling confident we can get a good result.

"It's really exciting to get the league campaign underway; it's a big game for us against a good Swindon side so we have to work hard and play well.

"We have to get some consistency going this year. We need to find a greater cutting edge, certainly at home, and I think we have the players here who can help us do that.

"It's a great honour for me to be playing my 100th game for the Club; it's an achievement I've been looking forward to and hoped I'd hit last season.

"I think I scored the last time we played Swindon down at their place - but I'll settle for a clean sheet this Saturday, that would be a nice way to hit 100 games."
