Pools star tells us why he loves Transfer Deadline DayHello and welcome to my latest blog here on the Official Website. I have to say it straight off, I really love Transfer Deadline Day - it's like Christmas Eve for football fans isn't it?
I usually have a chauffeur waiting outside my house and a private jet on standby at Newcastle Airport just in case there is any interest from abroad. I'll have a mini suitcase in the hall next to the door and I'll be waving my mobile phone around in the front room making sure I've got full reception!!
Haha, in seriousnesss I do love the coverage of it and I've got a few of my friends coming round to the house tonight to have a game of poker and then we'll just chill out and watch the Transfer Deadline Day stuff on the telly.
It will be nice to have a relaxing build-up to the game because last week was a really frustrating time sat on the bus trying to get to Leyton Orient. It was terrible in all honesty - we had a good chat at the hotel on the morning of the game, had good food, a nice walk out and we were all confident of turning Orient over.
The traffic meant we were all stuck on the bus and we had to keep refuelling with water and try to keep ourselves mentally prepared because we didn't know if the game would go ahead or not. We tried to make the best of the situation and we had a good bit of banter between the lads and we watched a couple of films. We had The Warrior on and we also watched John Carter - which by the way is up there with Transformers for how loud it is! I think the gaffer liked it but nobody else was having it!
We got back on the training field on Monday though and I was saying to someone earlier I think this has been one of the best weeks we've had since we came back. Everything has been short and sharp, we've done lots of possession and team shape too. We've had a good week to prepare really and the boys are flying for tomorrow and I can see us hitting the ground running. We know what we need to do.
I scored a couple of goals in training this morning so I'm feeling confident of getting a couple tomorrow. I've been up there for the set-pieces this morning and losing my markers for fun - I could have had a five-minute hat-trick with a bit more luck!
While I remember, I need to give a big shout out to Paul Murray who is celebrating his 45th birthday today. He's promised all the lads he'll bring his new Zimmer frame to the game tomorrow!
Remember, if you want to ask me any questions you can send an email in and I'll answer them in my next blog!
That's all for now! See you all tomorrow.
