Pools Youth Team will look to maintain their challenge near the top of the league on Saturday when they make the trip to face bottom-placed Huddersfield Town (11am kick-off).

The youngsters are only two points behind leaders Mansfield Town going in to this weekend’s round of fixtures and will hope to keep the pressure on those around them in the table.

Ian McGuckin’s side will also be aiming to complete a Youth Alliance League double over struggling Huddersfield having won 4-0 when the sides met at Blackhall at the start of September.

“Our first game against them was probably one of our best performances of the season,” admitted McGuckin.

“They are bottom of the table and there’s no getting away from the fact we want to go there and win but there are no easy games at this level.

“We’ve spoken to the lads this week about their attitude because that is one of the priorities on Saturday – we have to make sure no complacency at all creeps in to our game.

“After last week and the way we won it with a last-minute goal the confidence in the group is high so they’re in a good place right now and we have to try and build on that.”

Liam Pritchard is ruled out with a broken collarbone though he is set for a return to light training next week, while Harrison Webster remains a doubt with a hamstring problem.

Saturday’s game is being played at PPG Canalside on Leeds Road in Huddersfield and entry to all supporters is free.
