Pools Youth Team will go in search of a third successive win this weekend when they make the trip to face Oldham Athletic in the Youth Alliance League (12 noon kick-off).
Ian McGuckin’s youngsters backed up their excellent League Cup triumph at Carlisle United with a 6-2 thrashing of Notts County last week so will be approaching Saturday’s game in high spirits.
They know they’ll face a big challenge against The Latics who have won four of their six games so far to sit second in the North East Division prior to kick-off.
“The lads here are chomping at the bit after the last couple of games,” admitted McGuckin.
“When you get back-to-back wins it always boosts the confidence and I think scoring six goals last week can’t help but give the lads a real lift so we’re looking forward to the weekend.
“I think we know what to expect in every game now; we’re going to have to prepared to roll our sleeves up and battle just like we did against Notts County and Carlisle.
“We got our rewards last week with a really enjoyable win so we have to do that ugly side again on Saturday and hopefully we can come away with another positive result.”
Niall Short remains the only injury problem for McGuckin as the young winger continues his recover from a knee injury.
We’ll have a full report from the game here on the Official Website early next week.
