Craig Hignett has challenged his side to underline their strong form by winning again when they make the trip to Barrow on Tuesday evening.
The Pools boss has overseen back-to-back wins in the National League as both Wrexham and Torquay United were beaten to lift the team in the top ten of the table.
However, Hignett is adamant they can’t take their foot off the gas and he is demanding another solid performance when the players travel to Holker Street.
“It would be a great return for us if we could get another win,” admitted Hignett.
“I said before the weekend that the Wrexham game would mean nothing if we didn’t go and back it up at Torquay and we’ve managed to do that.
“Now we want to try and really build some momentum. Let’s go and do it again and see how long we can keep the winning run going.
“With the games coming thick and fast we’ve maybe got one or two decisions to make on the team but we’re on a good run so it’s tough.
“There are people really knocking on the door to get in to the line-up but we’re doing well at the moment so the selection problems are nice ones to have.”
Pools let themselves down during their last trip to Barrow at the end of last season when they were backed by an army of Poolie Knights but slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
Hignett has admitted that it would be nice to atone for that with a much brighter performance and a better result when they return to Holker Street on Tuesday – but he knows it won’t be easy.
“They’re having a tough time at the moment but they’re a good side,” he told us.
“I have watched their games and they haven’t got the results they’ve deserved in some of them because of the run of the ball or because of decisions not going for them.
“We know it will be hard, especially away from home, but it’s about what we do – I know how they will be play but I am more interested in our game and focusing on getting what we do right.
“It would be nice to win and consign last year’s game to history because it was a real off day for us, there’s no doubt about that, but we will have to be at our best.”
