H’Angus Among Pools Pack In Great North Run

H'Angus The Monkey, Hartlepool United

Pools might be on TV on Saturday night – but look out for H’Angus hitting your screens on Sunday as our monkey mascot once again takes part in the Great North Run!

That’s right, H’Angus has been in training for this year’s event and will be among the 57,000 runners who take to the streets for the famous half marathon between Newcastle and South Shields.

It’s not the first time that our crazy monkey has completed the Great North Run after he took part to raise funds for The Finlay Cooper Fund back in 2013.

This year he has dug out his running shoes to run for Alice House Hospice and he’s already closing in on his £1000 fundraising target – can you help him get there?

Of course, he’s not the only one with Pools connections who is taking part in this weekend’s Great North run – several more with links to the Club will be pounding the pavements and roads on Sunday.

Sarah Rowntree, who works in the Club’s Community Sports Foundation, has been in training and is looking forward to her first ever GNR to raise vital funds for the Foundation itself – click here to sponsor her.

Meanwhile, club legends Micky Barron and Michael Nelson will be both be familiar faces to look out for on television because they’re both taking part too.

There are also three members of our Women’s Team running on Sunday – Caitlin Bates, Robyn Foster and Jessica McKenna are all swapping tactics for trainers for one weekend only.

Good luck to everyone taking part on Sunday!
