Dave Challinor has urged his side to continue building momentum as they head to Barnet this weekend looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games.
Pools have moved to within reach of the National League’s top seven on the back of their consistent run through January, crowned by an outstanding 2-0 win over Stockport County last time out.
This weekend’s opponents are also eyeing a play-off spot, lying two places and just one point behind Pools ahead of kick-off – though The Bees do also have some games in hand.
Given the congested nature of the table as business end of the season approaches, Challinor says his players must take the chance to improve their own situation, whilst also directly affecting one of their rivals.
“It’s a big opportunity for us to continue the little run we’ve had,” Challinor told Pools TV.
“It’s a tough game but, like every one in this division, it’s winnable so that’s what we’ll be going there looking to do – and if we can’t do that then we make sure we don’t lose to keep the run going.
“When we played them when I was at Fylde they were probably the best team we’ve played but it shows the nature of this league that only a week or so later they came to Hartlepool and weren’t so good by all accounts.
“From our perspective, they are in and around us in the table and, even though they have more games to play than us, this is a chance for us to affect them, though we know it will be tough.
“We’re in a decent run of form so we have to make sure we do everything we can to go there and win.”
