The talented midfielder joined Pools at the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign after impressing then-boss Colin Cooper during a successful pre-season trial.
Woods began his career with Leeds United before being lured away by Chelsea in 2006 where he went on to spend time in the Reserves before making his Blues First Team debut against Macclesfield Town in January 2007.
The former England Youth international moved on loan to Notts County in November 2010 before joining Yeovil Town in 2011 and Doncaster Rovers the following year.
However, it was a spell in non-league with Harrogate Town which helped Woods re-ignite his love for the game and his form there caught the eye of the Pools hierarchy.
Blessed with great vision and an intelligence on the ball, Woods fought back from a season-ending dislocated ankle and fractured fibula sustained in February 2014 to score three goals in 37 appearances during the 2015/16 campaign.
He signed a new contract at the Club during the summer, ending speculation linking him with a move away from Victoria Park.
